How To Replace The Faucet Pressure Balance Units

The shower faucets are styled a bit differently than lots of shower valves. There are lots of shower valve styles combine the pressure balancing mechanisms and the mixer into a control cartridge. Its mixer part and a pressure balancing unit were two split pieces in a pressure balancing valve. If you notice your water temperature fluctuating throughout the shower use, it’s time to change your pressure balancing cartridges.

  1. Turn off your supply of water to your shower faucet. You will probably need to switch off the major supply to your house to complete this.
  2. Take out your mixer valve handle and it will depend upon the design of your faucet. A control handle is being held on either way with the use of the Phillips screw under the decorative screw cover within a handle or by the little screw on an underside of a handle. If there’s a decorative screw cover, take out a cover through prying it up by using a flat edge of the normal screwdriver and then pop it off. Take out a screw with the screwdriver and then pull off a handle. When a handle has been held in place through the little screw beneath, it is probably the hex-head screw.
  3. Take out a metal tube which will encircle the middle of a valve.
  4. Take out the two screws which are holding a valve cover plate within its place. Remove a plate and then set it aside.
  5. Utilize the Phillips screwdriver and then remove the other two Phillips screws which will hold an integrating cartridge in place. Its screws are straight behind a cover plate and then fasten down the metal ring which will hold a cartridge in place, then remove a ring.
  6. Take out a mixer cartridge. It can be a bit stuck due to the mineral and water deposits. Directly at the back of the mixer cartridge is a pressure balancing cartridge. Take out its balancing cartridge and change it with the new replacement balancing cartridge.
  7. Reconstruct a mixer cartridge, a containment ring and its two screws which will hold a ring in its place.
  8. Situate a metal tube return over a valve center. Slip a faucet plate above a tube and then insert and tightened screws which will hold a cover in place, then reattach the handles, replace the screws that tightened down a handle and a screw cover.
  9. Switch on the supply of water. Turn your shower faucet off and on when checking if the valves are properly working.
