The 5 causes why showers are leaking

Bathroom showers are not leaking by chance and there is a sure reason behind it and these are:

1. How to fix the worn-out shower hose:

  • Disconnect the old one from the tap, then, take out the rubber washer. Maintain your washer, since you will have to place it over the new hose, when this is damaged, then take the new one.
  • Remove the shower head, then, remove the washer again. You need to have 2 washers for the 2 joints.
  • Connect the new hose, and the washers situated on mutual sides, and then hand-tighten them.

2. How to fix the faulty shower/bar mixer tap

  • Switched off both the cold and the hot water supply, and then drain the water which sits in line.
  • Remove your mixer spout.
  • Locate a spherical rubber seal in the neck of a mixer.
  • Remove the seal out then replace it with the new one.
  • Install a spout back to a mixer.
  • Switch on the supply of water and test the flow of water.

3. Fix the faulty shower drain connection

The drain of the bathtubs or the showers is being connected to the P-trap that shuns your sewer gas from returning into the drain and also, permits the wastewater in going under a sewer. When the P-trap has not been properly installed or had experienced some harm, it will cause the leak. In this instance, if you will reach a P-trap, have an examination of it for any spoils and when there is any, then seal them.

4. How to fix the worn out shower valve

  • Switch off your water supply.
  • Remove the shower handle through removing the screw at the core of it. Set this aside. With most of the handles, the screws had been hidden beneath the plastic cap.
  • Unscrew the trim plates that are being connected to a wall with 2 screws. When you take it out, you can see the hollow space and the valve itself.
  • Remove the valve clip – the 2-pronged metal side over the valve.
  • Take your valve out. Do not pull it really hard, as you are risking in breaking the water pipe. When the valve is just hard to pull, then spray some lubricants on.
  • Alter the valve and then assemble everything to be returned in the proper order.

5. How to fix the cracked shower tiled surface

  • Take out your old grout, and use the grout saw to make the job easier.
  • The moment that the grout has been totally removed, wait for that place to dry. Be sure that the bath area is well-ventilated.
  • Apply the new grout, however, better use the one with the low absorption rate. Sanded tile grout had been a great choice in this sample, since it is not only had a low absorption rate but is also very resistant to breakage.
  • When you have already grouted the tiles, let that area totally dry once more.
  • Apply the layer of the sealer to shun the shower from the leakages, but, this is optional.
